I’ll be quite honest in saying it felt like we’d never, ever get to this point – and this is only the first step of many.
After rewrites, delays, revisions, edits — just about anything you can do to a story without burning it to ash and moving on — WILD CARD Volume 1 is finally here for release!
Like many who pursue creative goals I still find myself wanting to do more and improve the quality of this writing, but I know if I don’t get it out there it can never grow. Wild Card, like my writing ability, has a long road ahead to grow and improve but we have to take that first step to get there.
To start off, all of the 16 Chapters of Volume One have been posted here individually to be read to which links will be down below. There are some formatting issues which we’re trying to work around, but for now it does not appear in its original intended look.
There will be a full text PDF released sometime in the next week or so, if not sooner.
Once things calm down and we (hopefully) can get this story to more people to read and experience, the continuation of the story will be posted as individual chapters as they are completed (and they will eventually be revised, edited, and compiled into Volume Two and so on).
I plan to write an actual afterword for Volume One before the release goes live (I’m writing this post ahead of time, ohoho) but even with that coming I want to take this time to thank everyone who has supported me and helped me during this Wild Card process —
From LenK who did numerous fan art of characters from the series and really helped to motivate me with his hype, passion for the story and characters that really helped to drive me during the slow times. To Raythrill whose original art of my character idea nearly three years ago helped me get the idea really rolling and helped with the initial spark.
Of course there were friends (more like family!) Eric and Brooke, who helped me with the bouncing of ideas and also reading through some early drafts to help me get an idea for what I was doing and where I was going (Brooke you read way too much of what I sent way too fast!).
Then there’s my editor M.K. who unfortunately didn’t get the chance to edit fully in the end due to my delays over the last year, but helped nonetheless despite their own time constraints and has continued to help edit my writing all the way since Anachronus for an unbeatable fee of free. Without them I’d be pretty sunk and the fact they are there is an incredible safety net. They are a great friend for all that they do.
Finally, to anyone and everyone who liked, retweeted, reblogged, inquired about the story, plans to read, read the old test drafts of Wild Card, and really just anyone who happens to pass by — thank you for your time and consideration, no matter if its ten seconds or ten years. The fact that you took the time to look at my story, to share it, to enjoy it, to even hate it, means the world to me. Thank you for all you’ve done and will do!
Buuuut, without further rambling, let’s get on with it – shall we?
